Multiple submucosal out-fractures of inferior turbinates.
Nasal obstruction caused by the inferior turbinate is a common clinical problem. There are many surgical procedures which attempt to relieve it, but all of them have associated difficulties. We describe, for the first time, a new method, namely multiple submucosal out-fractures of the inferior turbinates, which is both effective and free from serious complication.
متن کاملVariant anatomy of nasal turbinates: supreme, superior and middle conchae bullosae, paradoxical superior and inferior turbinates, and middle accessory turbinate.
Multiple anatomical variants were encountered during a cone beam computed tomography (CBCT) study of the nasal cavity of a 43-year-old male patient. These were mostly related to the nasal turbinates, suggestive for an unusual development of ethmoturbinals. Pneumatized turbinates were observed: bilateral supreme, superior, and middle concha bullosa. There were bilateral paradoxically curved supe...
متن کاملDefective Fluid Secretion from Submucosal Glands of Nasal Turbinates from CFTR-/- and CFTRΔF508/ΔF508 Pigs
BACKGROUND Cystic fibrosis (CF), caused by reduced CFTR function, includes severe sinonasal disease which may predispose to lung disease. Newly developed CF pigs provide models to study the onset of CF pathophysiology. We asked if glands from pig nasal turbinates have secretory responses similar to those of tracheal glands and if CF nasal glands show reduced fluid secretion. METHODOLOGY/PRINC...

Narrow Band Imaging Endoscopy: Novel Diagnostic Method in the Hypertrophy of Inferior Turbinates
Objectives: The narrow band imaging endoscopy (NBI) is an imaging method used by otolaryngologists for the examination of oral cavity, pharynx and larynx. Our present study was designed to determine the effectiveness of NBI in the examination of the inferior turbinate hypertrophy status. Study Design: Individual cohort study. Methods: A hundred and nine patients with enlarged inferior nasal con...
